Joyce Burgess came to Asheville from Virginia in the fall of 2007.  She has been training dogs 30 + years and training people to train dogs almost as long. She currently has three shelties: MACH Consort River Rock (Rocky) who is 16 years old and retired from competition.  Rocky competed and earned titles in agility, obedience, and freestyle with AKC, UKC, NADAC, and USDAA.  Now he just enjoys “hanging” out with his pack; MACH Ryladd Magic Girl (GiGi) is still competing in agility and just starting her obedience career; and then there is puppy Misty Mount Joyful Journey (Mac) who is only 8 months old and just starting his career.

Joyce is retired from teaching elementary school and has turned her “teaching” skills to the canine world.   She lives in Asheville with her three dogs mentioned above, her husband Alan, and his keeshond dog,
MACH Molly B Keys.

Joyce is experienced with traditional as well as clicker methods of training - but ALL training is with Positive Reinforcement.
